The Opportunity

• Work on production AI systems inside a small, high ownership engineering team
• Build systems that handle messy operational data, structured and unstructured information, and multi step decision workflows
• Combine language models, retrieval systems, and tool use into end to end automation pipelines
• Move beyond prototypes and focus on systems that run reliably in production environments
• Work closely with domain specialists to translate manual workflows into software driven processes
• Help define architecture and engineering standards for an early stage AI platform
• Iterate quickly based on real usage and system feedback rather than lab conditions

What You Will Work On

• Building LLM based systems that execute multi step operational workflows
• Designing retrieval systems over documents, records, and internal data sources
• Developing agent style workflows that can call tools and complete tasks end to end
• Improving system reliability through evaluation, testing, and monitoring frameworks
• Working with domain experts to map real world processes into system logic
• Building backend services and APIs that support AI driven workflows
• Supporting deployment and scaling decisions across the platform
• Improving systems using production feedback and real world usage data

What We Are Looking For

• 5+ years experience in software engineering or machine learning engineering
• Strong Python engineering ability
• Experience building or deploying LLM based applications in production
• Familiarity with retrieval systems, embeddings, or semantic search
• Experience working with APIs and distributed backend systems
• Comfortable working in early stage environments with changing requirements
• Strong focus on building working systems that ship and run in production

Useful Experience

• Building internal tools or workflow automation systems
• Experience with LLM based automation or decision support systems
• Cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or similar)
• Experience operating production ML systems over time and improving reliability

Role Details

• Location: New York City (hybrid)
• Compensation: up to $250,000 base salary + equity + benefits
• Type: Permanent, full-time
